On Thursday and Friday we went on a field trip to the wild animal park in San Diego. When we first got there we took a tour through the savanna. Then we got to our campsite and prepared for dinner. The next day we went on a hike up a hill. Then we got the whole day to explore the park ourselves.

Arctic Tundra
The geography is very flat and not that many hills but with rocks jetting out of nowhere. There are polar bears, penguins, and fish at the arctic tundra. There is no vegetation in the arctic tundra. The climate is extremely cold with sun sometimes day and night.

rainforest
Rain forests are known as the lungs of the earth because they absorb the carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. There are three layers to a rain forest. There is the canopy which is home to birds and monkeys. Then there is the forest floor because the bacteria there can absorb the nutrients and gives it to the animals. Every 15 minutes one species dies in a rain forest.

ocean ecosystem
Oceans are the largest zones in the world with many different habitats. There are 3 zones. There is the euphotic zone, the abyssal zone, and the bathyal zone. The euphotic zone gets more sunlight than the bathyal zone and that zone gets more sunlight than the abyssal zone which gets almost no sunlight. Some animals can even live in all of earth's ocean. Plankton live in the euphotic zone.

biomes
Many different animals live in different biomes. To live in a new biome animals must adapt to the different climates and weather. If you put a penguin in a savanna it will die. If you put a flamingo in antarctica it will die. Humans need to realize that if we cut down a few trees we can change a biome and kill species and make animals extinct.
